It was 10:10 PM exactly. The sound came first."

About the Author
Jezeem Jameel
I was born in Kandy, where the ancient rhythms of my Kandyan heritage first stirred my imagination. I have always been fascinated by elephants and hold a deep affection for the revered Sinha Raja who lives in the Dalada Maligawa, whose noble presence became a touchstone for my creative spirit. As a voracious reader since childhood, I found sanctuary in the pages of gripping thrillers, never imagining that one day I would craft my own. What began as a modest hobby project transformed into something far greater when my eldest child became my most demanding critic and greatest champion, pushing me chapter by chapter to dig deeper, write sharper, and never settle for less than my best.
Through ten meticulous drafts, I honed my craft with the dedication of a master artisan. I deliberately avoided discussing my work with anyone until my final manuscript was complete, allowing deep research and pure imagination to forge characters that breathe with authentic life. The collaborative spirit of my editing process—supported by fellow writers whose only payment was a signed copy—speaks to both my humility and the magnetic pull of storytelling that emerged from this journey. My debut novel stands as testament to the power of persistence and the magic that happens when cultural heritage meets contemporary narrative. From the ancient streets of Kandy to Chichester, England, where I now live with my family, I write bridging the sacred traditions of my homeland with the endless possibilities of imagination. Thank you for reading my work, and if you haven't yet, I invite you to join me on this journey. My forthcoming work, Downs of Silence, promises to delve even deeper into the human psyche, exploring how two souls from two different eras navigate the treacherous terrain of loss and hope in their search for one missing girl.
